Frequently Asked Questions

About the company

Where did the name Bracchiatus Pretzels come from?

The word โ€œbracchiatusโ€ (pronounced brah-kee-AH-tus) is the origin of the word pretzel. Meaning โ€œwith armsโ€ in Latin, it describes the shape of a pretzel, which was introduced in the Middle Ages. The company name is a tribute to the history of the pretzel.

Where is the company located?

Bracchiatus Pretzels is a home-based business located in New York, in the New York City metropolitan area.

About the pretzels

What kinds of pretzels can I order?

We offer four primary varieties of pretzels:

  • Plain
  • Cinnamon
  • Cheese-filled
  • Pretzel balls

Each of these varieties is available in white flour and whole wheat versions. We also offer peanut butterโ€“filled pretzel balls and cinnamon pretzel balls, giving you a total of 12 options to choose from.

What are the ingredients?

Each pretzel is made with the same basic ingredients: wheat flour, water, yeast, sugar, salt, and baking soda. The pretzels with toppings or fillings contain additional ingredients; please see the list in the description/additional information for each pretzel.

Are the whole wheat pretzels 100% whole wheat flour?

The whole wheat pretzels are made with a mix of half whole wheat flour and half white flour.

How are the pretzels made?

Each pretzel is made by hand in a home kitchen from simple, healthy ingredients. The dough is shaped into the traditional form of a pretzel, dipped into a baking soda bath to give it that well-known crust and flavor, and then baked, cooled, and packaged for delivery.

Are there any allergens?

All of the pretzel varieties contain wheat flour (gluten). Some also contain milk, peanuts, and soy. Please check each pretzelโ€™s allergen information in the relevant description/additional information section. Please note that since the pretzels are prepared in a home kitchen, cross-contamination may be unavoidable.

Do the pretzels come with a salt topping?

Salt is included in a separate bag with each order of plain pretzels or plain pretzel balls, which can be added before reheating and serving.

Are the pretzels vegetarian?

All of the pretzels are vegetarian.

Are the pretzels vegan?

All of the pretzels are vegan except for the cheese-filled options.

Are the pretzels kosher?

All of the ingredients are kosher, but the baking process is not supervised by a kosher-certifying agency.

How is shipping calculated?

Shipping costs are calculated based on weight, with a minimum shipping charge of $10.00 for the first pound (which will cover 4-6 individual pretzels, or one variety pack). Total shipping costs depend on the number of pretzels that you buy. If you order more than 6 pretzels, you will be charged additional shipping fees per pretzel based on weight, up to $34.00 in total shipping costs. No more than 12 pretzels can be purchased in a single order. See below for details on order limitations and shipping charges for variety packs.

Please note that the weight of each pretzel listed on the individual product pages is approximate, and may include packaging material. Since each pretzel is made by hand, there may be some variation in weight.

Special limits for variety packs:

Variety packs are limited to a maximum of 1 per order. There is a $10.00 shipping charge per variety pack (based on weight). If you order a combination of individual pretzels and a variety pack, the variety pack counts as 6 pretzels toward the 12-item order limit (shipping charges will be calculated separately for the individual pretzels and combined at checkout).

See the table below for some common order options and associated shipping costs:

Pretzels purchasedShipping charges
1-6 individual pretzels$10.00 base, plus additional costs if total weight exceeds 1 pound
3 individual pretzels and 1 variety pack$10.00 base for the variety pack, plus additional costs per the weight of the individual pretzels
7-12 individual pretzels$10.00 base, plus additional costs for total weight above 1 pound

How to enjoy your pretzels

How are the pretzels kept fresh before delivery?

After the pretzels have been baked and cooled, each pretzel is individually vacuum sealed. This allows the pretzels to stay fresh during shipping and for later storage at your home (if for some reason you donโ€™t want to eat them right away).

Can the pretzels be eaten when they arrive?

Yes, your pretzels can be eaten right away. They will arrive individually wrapped in vacuum sealed plastic bags, ready to eat. We recommend warming them up briefly in your oven before serving in order to restore the crust and give them that fresh-baked texture and flavor.

Please note that the vacuum sealed plastic bags are not microwave- or oven-safe. Make sure to remove each pretzel from its bag before warming and serving.

Can the pretzels be stored for later?

Yes! For the best taste and texture, we recommend keeping the pretzels in an airtight bag or container in your freezer (to prevent unnecessary waste, you can leave unopened pretzels in the vacuum sealed bags that they arrived in). Do not store the pretzels at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

How do I reheat the pretzels after storing them in the freezer?

Preheat your oven to 350หš. Place the pretzels on an unlined baking sheet or tray and sprinkle salt over the top if desired. Place the pretzels in the oven for 10 minutes. Serve warm.

Make sure to remove any packaging from the pretzels before reheating! There is no need to defrost the pretzels before reheating them.
